Dear Friends,
It’s been a while since I’ve written. As I announced at the end of last year, I’ve been focusing most of my creative attention on a new project, a memoir-biography of my grandmother, Marjorie, called Fetch Me Home. I’ve published five more installments since the last time I wrote, and if you haven’t yet, I do hope you’ll subscribe.
While I remain dedicated to this writing project, I’ve also felt the pinch of not knowing what to do with the thoughts and feelings that result from being a human on planet Earth in 2024. So I’ve started another publication that will feature more frequent writing and reflection on current events. More of a personal blog/newsletter in a traditional sense, but with a political economy lens.
My world has been a bit helter-skelter topsy-turvy these last few months. So your support as a paid subscriber to either of these publications is much appreciated.
God willing and the creek don’t rise (as we say in my family), I am hopeful our family will be embarking on the last 100k of the Portuguese Camino later this summer.
I’ll be sure to write with an update when it happens. In the mean time, the training walks have begun.
Until next time,
Alicia

"God willing and the creek don't rise"! I like your family's saying. (I say it too, but it didn't come from my family.)
